Patrik Antonius
Patrik Antonius stands out at the poker table, with his chiseled physique and stunning good looks. Behind that handsome face is one of the best poker minds of the generation- he's drawn comparisons to Phil Ivey, and he's been called one of online poker's biggest winners.
Antonius was born in 1980 and he's been playing poker since he was eleven years old; but when he was growing up, he wanted to be a pro tennis player. He would have met that goal if a severe back injury hadn't ended his nascent career. His tennis dreams at an end, he turned to poker with great success. He won cash in his first-ever tournament, and went on to win over a quarter-million dollars in online poker and tournament winnings of almost three million dollars.
He keeps winning money from cash games, tournaments and online play, but Antonius is more interested in notoriety than anything else. He says that he doesn't play for the money, but the honor that comes from winning a tournament, and that he wants to be remembered as one of the best cash game players ever. He has publicly challenged several pros such as Tom Dwan and Doyle Brunson.
Some of Patrik Antonius' most notable achievements are his membership on the Full Tilt team, his regular status at the "Big Game" at the Bellagio, and winning the highest-stakes ever hand at GSN's High Stakes Poker. He has also won on Poker After Dark.
Antonius accepted Tom Dwan's challenge to the poker community, and put up $500,000 to Dwan's one and a half million dollars. The two players will four-table at $200-$400 pot limit Omaha or hold 'em for fifty thousand hands, and when those hands are up, the winner keeps his winnings plus the original amount.
